Mannheim, August 14, 2023 – The RKW Group publishes its Sustainability Report 2022, which, in line with the company's sustainability strategy, is based on the three fundamental pillars of sustainability, the ESGs (Environmental, Social, Governance), and shows its contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
"At RKW, we are committed to our responsibility to society and the environment," says Peter Baumgartner, CEO of RKW. "This is also reflected in our corporate purpose: with our sustainable film solutions, we enable our customers to improve the daily lives of consumers around the world. In addition, we have set ourselves ambitious sustainability goals and are continuously working to make our contribution to a sustainable future," Baumgartner adds.
The report highlights the sustainability measures RKW has already taken and the sustainability targets we have set ourselves. Two goals are at the heart of our efforts: To increase the use of recycled, renewable and biodegradable materials to 15 percent by the end of 2025 and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent by 2025 in accordance with GHG Protocol Scope 1 & 2. In addition, the report explains how we plan to achieve our sustainability goals, taking into account the challenges of the plastics industry, and develop innovative, sustainable film solutions that support our customers' sustainability goals while meeting their high performance expectations.
In line with RKW's sustainability goals, we strive to continuously optimize the environmental footprint of our products and production processes. With innovative and sustainable product designs, we optimize resource consumption, reduce negative environmental impacts of a product along its life cycle or facilitate recycling and the use of recyclates.
