RKW publishes Sustainability Report 2024

Corporate Sustainability

Mannheim, August 22, 2025 – What makes sustainability tangible and effective? Engaging all relevant perspectives and collaborating closely. In its 2024 Sustainability Report, RKW Group demonstrates how it is successfully advancing vital future initiatives.

RKW takes its responsibilities seriously and bases its actions on the principle of double materiality: by considering economic, social, and environmental impacts together, all relevant issues are identified and addressed. From the very start of its sustainability strategy, RKW involves stakeholders to ensure a wide range of perspectives are considered.

“Sustainability is both our responsibility and our license to operate: As a family business, we’re committed to sustainable transformation for future generations.  Double materiality and the Circular Economy will help us prioritize and focus our efforts where we can make the greatest, most lasting impact”, emphasizes CEO Eric Le Lay.

RKW also sets new standards in recycling: Some film products are already made from up to 100 percent recycled materials. By consistently expanding the circular economy, implementing innovative processes, and working closely with customers, RKW is reducing its carbon footprint while developing resource-efficient solutions for the future.

Equally important to RKW is promoting diversity and social responsibility: More than 48 nationalities contribute their perspectives to the company. This very diversity is what fuels innovation and drives sustainable change. Equal opportunities and diversity are actively fostered through targeted programs, health initiatives, and a confidential counseling service for employees and their families.

“For us, diversity is a key driver of innovation and a prerequisite for sustainable transformation to create lasting value,” says Le Lay. “We take responsibility – for our employees, our customers, and the next generation.”

Since 2020, RKW has exceeded its own climate goals, cutting direct CO₂ emissions by 55 percent compared to 2017. All sites now use state-of-the-art energy and water management systems. Suppliers worldwide are also systematically reviewed for fair and safe standards.
