Mannheim, June 13, 2024 - The RKW site in Wasserburg am Inn, Germany, hosted an open day last weekend on June 8. More than 1,200 visitors took the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of plastic film production. With almost 380 employees, RKW Wasserburg is one of the largest RKW sites worldwide.
The visitors were welcomed by Director Site Jürgen Forster and the management team and given an overview of the history of the site, which has specialized in the production of polypropylene films since 1968. After being briefed on the safety rules, interested parties were then able to join group tours of the plant and gain an insight into all areas of the production process, from the incoming goods inspection of the raw material in quality assurance to the individual production steps in the production halls and the dispatch of the finished goods.
Stations were also set up in production to show the various processes and techniques as well as explanations of the finished products. Finally, the guests were allowed to visit the training workshop. There, they were able to gain an overview of the wide range of apprenticeships offered by RKW Wasserburg and ask the apprentices at the site questions.
A varied program was also offered for the younger guests: the youngest visitors were looked after by RKW employees in a craft and games corner. For the slightly older children, the Wasserburg mountain rescue service offered "crate stacking", where they could put their climbing skills to the test.
Refreshments were provided with catering and an ice cream stand.
"The day was a complete success and we received a lot of positive feedback from enthusiastic visitors," said Director Site Jürgen Forster. "They were particularly impressed to learn where the film products manufactured at the site are actually used and how RKW makes a very important part of everyday life easier."
Above all, he was delighted with the large number of visitors and the performance of his team. "Even during the preparations, it became clear once again how strong the team spirit and cohesion of our employees at the site is. Everyone involved invested a lot of time in this and organized a truly perfect day. The entire production team made a great contribution to the success of the tours and the event with their prudent work and actions."
In addition to numerous apprenticeships, RKW also offers various job opportunities in production and administration. Are you interested? RKW Wasserburg looks forward to receiving your application! You can find the job advertisements on the RKW website at https://rkw-group.com/de/jobfinder/
