Career in Finance at RKW
We interviewed our colleague Sanna and asked her a few questions about herself and her career path in Finance at RKW.
Sanna began her career with RKW in 2015, joining the Controlling department in Finland. In 2021 she took the opportunity to lead both internal and external accounting. In the same year, Sanna was invited for a Group-wide leadership training program with an external partner in Berlin, Germany. This experience provided her with invaluable insights and lessons, preparing her for the next big step in her career.
Until recently, Sanna has been responsible for the Finance organization in Finland. Together with Headquarters they envisioned a job-sharing model. Now she is the responsible Finance Manager Nordics, means Finland and Sweden.
Why did you choose a finance career path?
"Actually, I just grew into it. Initially, I was dreaming of a career as an architect or designer, but eventually my character and abilities directed me to Finance. Mathematics has always been easy and pleasant for me, and I’m very systematic in everything I do. Finally, I must be in the right place, as I love what I do."
How do you manage and coordinate the work with teams in Sweden and Finland?
"I will be spending time with my teams in both Finland and Sweden. Fortunately, in today`s digitalized world, many meetings and calls can also be conducted virtually or simply accessing the data itself.
I’m really enthusiastic about the work we do, and I appreciate individuals and their abilities. Every person has their own strengths, and we should exploit and celebrate it. I expect my teams, both in Finland and Sweden, to drive passionately their own roles."
What would you recommend to colleagues who want to take a similar career path?
"My motivational speech to young people has been for years the same: Just try to find the profession you really love to do! Because when you do the thing you love, very often you are also recognized for your passion and then success follows. And if you’re not recognized, you are still the happiest person, as you are able to spend your time doing what you love the most."
