Not every career path follows a straight line from the very beginning — and it doesn’t have to. Sometimes, a fresh start is exactly the right step. That was also the case for Oliver, who started an apprenticeship as an Industrial Management Assistant at RKW in Petersaurach. In this interview, he shares how he first became aware of RKW, what attracted him to the apprenticeship, and which challenges he faced at the beginning.
How Oliver Joined RKW
Oliver is currently in his first year of training and comes from the local area. He first became aware of RKW partly because of its proximity to his home, but also through his own online research and recommendations from people around him. He made a very conscious decision to start this apprenticeship. Although he had already a successfully completed apprenticeship and achieved very strong results, he had not yet found the right opportunity to enter the commercial field. That is why he decided to start again — with an apprenticeship that opens up better long-term career prospects for him.
A Good Start
His first impression of RKW? Entirely positive.
The first day at work often stays with you: new faces, new processes, and a lot of impressions all at once. All the better when you immediately feel that you have arrived in the right place. And even better when you realize that you are starting this journey alongside fantastic colleagues.
What He Enjoys Most: Working Independently
In his day-to-day work, Oliver especially enjoys working independently. He likes organizing his tasks and managing his own pace. That suits him particularly well, as it allows him to work most productively. Of course, every apprenticeship comes with things you first have to get used to. For Oliver, one of the biggest adjustments was the new technical vocabulary. Especially at the beginning, that was a challenge. But by now, it has increasingly become part of his everyday routine.
Looking Ahead
Oliver is not only thinking about the apprenticeship itself, but also about what comes after. His goal is to continue developing professionally and keep learning. What matters most to him is that further training opportunities remain available after the apprenticeship. That is why he sees RKW’s support for different qualifications and development programs as a real advantage.
His Favorite Place? Clearly: His Own Workspace
When asked the more personal question about his favorite place on the company premises, Oliver had a clear answer: his workspace. That is where he feels most productive — and that fits very well with the way he approaches things.
