As the year draws to a close, it is time to look back at the highlights of 2024.

Employees

Our employees celebrated International Women's Day on March 8 under this year's motto #InspireInclusion. We are proud to have 29 percent female managers at RKW.

Our site in Wasserburg opened its doors twice in 2024, on Open Day and on Girls' Day, to provide an insight into the wide range of opportunities at RKW. Around 1,200 visitors took the opportunity to experience the production at first hand on guided tours during the open day.

In June, RKW employees celebrated Pride Month and stood up for equality and the rights of all people, regardless of their origin and sexual orientation. Together we stand for tolerance, openness and mutual respect.

The DEI Interest Group (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) met for a workshop to discuss how awareness of these important issues can be raised within the company.

Promoting young talent

In August and September, we welcomed 20 apprentices to our German sites.

Our apprentices from all German sites and all years of apprenticeships met in Michelstadt in October for our first Apprentice Days. The event was a great success.

RKW presented itself as a potential employer at numerous apprenticeship fairs, universities and schools and presented the various opportunities for joining RKW.

We live sustainability

In August, we presented our Sustainability Report 2023, which documents our strong commitment to a transformation towards a sustainable future.

This year, we once again lived up to our motto “We live sustainability” as part of the sustainability campaign. Employees at various locations demonstrated their commitment to sustainability in one of the many campaigns. In addition to waste collection campaigns, there were other exciting projects this year, such as the installation of a composter and the embellishment of a freight container used by a non-profit association to store environmentally friendly cargo bikes.

Awards and certificates

Our French site RKW Castelletta has won the Flexostar, for printed multipack shrink film, for the third time. Our colleagues accepted the Flexostar Silver at the award ceremony in December. We focus on innovative and sustainable products to optimize resource consumption and reduce negative environmental impacts.

RKW Castelletta was again awarded the “Label MORE” (Mobilisés pour Recycler) in 2024. The MORE label is awarded to companies that use recycled materials in their plastic packaging.

After our sites in Pori, Saultain, Gronau and Petersaurach were already ISCC+ (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) certified, our site in Wasserburg has also been ISCC+ certified since May. Thanks to these certifications, new sources of supply for sustainable raw materials are available, opening up new marketing opportunities for our sustainable film solutions.

Trade fair participations worldwide

2024 was a great trade fair year for RKW. We attended around 20 trade fairs and events worldwide as RKW and were able to present our sustainable film solutions. We were represented at important industry trade fairs in the USA, Mexico, Germany, Vietnam, Thailand, Sweden and Kazakhstan and had many inspiring discussions with customers and potential customers.
