RKW and KHS Collaborate for Sustainable Multipack Solutions

Mannheim/Dortmund, Germany, February 22, 2021 – The RKW Group, a leading global film solutions provider, and KHS Group, a leading manufacturer of filling and packaging systems for the beverage and liquid food industry, collaborate to provide the market with multipack film solutions made of up to 100% recycled content.

Both companies worked together closely to provide end-to-end solutions to their customers in the beverage industry. KHS provides filling and packaging systems, which are designed to perfectly process RKW’s multipack packaging films containing up to 100 % recycling materials. As the consumers’ demand for more sustainable packaging solutions is growing, industry leader RKW use R&D capabilities to offer films meeting this demand.

Apart from the easy-to-process packaging, the films come with high performance printing properties, which supports brand owners to provide attractive multipacks for higher visibility on the shelves and help end consumers with on-the-go consumption. “At RKW, we are fully convinced that all multipack solutions must become easy-to-recycle and made of both post-industrial and post-consumer waste to help the industry meet consumer’s demands. Sustainability is in the core of our business strategy, and this solution under the brand name RKW Ecore is yet another proof of how we take it seriously”, said Dr. Konrad Noniewicz, Head of Application Engineering and R&D Packaging & Industrial at RKW Group.

KHS has a wide portfolio in the field of secondary packaging, which offers forward-looking solutions for retailers and brand owners. “The new development and optimization of packaging systems has always been one of KHS' core competencies”, said KHS packaging expert Martin Thyssen. In terms of sustainability, KHS is seen as a pioneer and set standards in the packaging industry. Processing 100 % recycled films on their shrink packers underlines this effort and illustrates a further packaging alternative.

Collaboration is a highly effective way to provide the market with better, more sustainable solutions, especially when the partners are fully dedicated to the mission: More value for the customers. Martin Thyssen added: “Jointly with RKW, we overcame the obstacle of processing films fully made of recycling materials. This is a big step forward for our customers. This joint effort is a win-win-win.”
