Premiere: "Breathable Films 2018"

Frankenthal (Germany), April 09, 2018 - RKW, one of the world's foremost manufacturers of polyolefin-based film solutions and a global leader in the production of breathable films, has sponsored the "Breathable Films 2018" conference. In the face of rising demand and positive growth prospects, the event provided an international forum to discuss innovations and key developments in a very specific segment of the films market. The conference was organized by Applied Market Information Ltd (AMI) in Cologne, Germany.

From March 7th to 8th 2018, major representatives of the breathable films industry gathered in Cologne to attend the world's first conference on the matter. "This event responds to the ongoing expansion of the breathable films industry in bringing together key stakeholders from every stage of the production chain," says Robert Koplin, Product Manager Hygiene Films at RKW and Head of the Center of Competence for Breathable Films. "As main sponsor and European market leader for hygiene breathable films, RKW supported a framework, in which participants could explore new trends and exchange ideas for the industry's future." RKW manufactures breathable films for hygiene and medical applications, as well as for the roofing and construction sectors. With its innovative products, the company pursues its business mission by providing sustainable films and laminates that improve the daily lives of consumers all over the world. RKW's share in the European hygiene breathable films market is currently estimated at over 30 percent.

"As an event sponsor, RKW acts not only as a financial supporter of this conference, but as a trendsetter when it comes to evaluating and discussing the challenges and opportunities facing the breathable films industry across the worldwide markets," says Patricia Featherstone, Director Marketing & Communications Hygiene & Industrial. The breathable films industry has been on the rise in recent years and is expected to expand continuously - thanks to a growing demand in diverse sectors of industry such as personal care and hygiene, medical and pharmaceutical, industrial workwear, food packaging and processing, and building and construction. Alongside other manufacturers of high standing, Koplin took part in the conference's main panel discussion on 'Exploring the Breathable Film Market'. In discussing opportunities and challenges to film providers, Koplin was keen to point out that the greatest growth comes from emerging economies. "Naturally we are excited about the significant growth in our markets. Meanwhile we focus on matters in the areas of sustainability, recycling and of course, most importantly to the consumer, product safety. We continue the development of our breathable film portfolio towards lower basis weights with properties tailored to our customers' demands."
